龍神の小森谷は入渓に源流部から入る、この林道は高野龍神スカイライン、護摩壇山タワーから先で分岐する道だが、行き止まりになっている。終点のつり橋までは崩壊箇所が断続的で河原の中を走る林道だ。途中の越戒ノ滝付近を除けば悪場も無いが荒れに荒れていてる。つり橋から下流は比較的安定した渓相で、水も綺麗だが、アマゴは少ない。途中のポイントで小さいのが釣れただけ。以前は尺アマゴもでたが、もう数も期待できない谷となってしまった。この釣れない小森谷が好きなのは言うまでもなく、平維盛に係わる歴史が刻み込まれた谷だからだ。赤壺、白壺などに見られるように深淵が連続している。中でもお万の淵は、深い。昔はもっと掘れていたのだろう。この淵の上部にはやたら蛇が多い。お万ノ方の投身を見守っていたのだろうか？平維盛朝臣が隠遁し住んでいた屋敷跡付近も、今では名を残すのみだ。さぞ無念の自刃であったろう。時代が彼の生存を許すはずもなく…。平清盛直孫の維盛の最後は意外に知られていない。明るい谷間になり、下流からの林道終点に到着した。まだ早いが納竿し、移動する。
